Thank you for your interest in Firelight

Firelight builds the capacity of catalytic community-based organizations that are working with their communities to realize smart, sustainable, and scalable solutions to the challenges faced by children and youth in southern and eastern Africa.

We are currently assessing the changing nature of need and opportunity as many African communities prepare for or deal with the impact of COVID-19.

As such, we would like to hear from organizations that are born and raised in their communities and are working with children, youth, or families in the following countries:

- Malawi

- Rwanda

- Tanzania

- Zambia

- Zimbabwe

If you believe you meet these criteria, please consider registering with us through this page to be notified of future funding opportunities. Click on the orange "Register Here" button to the left. In order to register, you will first need to complete an eligibility survey to determine if your organization meets the qualifications for Firelight funding. At the end of the survey, you will have the opportunity to enter your organization's information into our database and to sign up for email updates from Firelight.

As you complete the eligibility quiz, please note that Firelight only supports organizations that are born and raised in African communities and – as such – does not support individuals, expat-founded organizations, or international NGOs. We specialize in supporting organizations that work with or around children, youth, and families, so we unfortunately cannot fund other kinds of organizations. Please also note that Firelight does not fund organizations that evangelize to beneficiaries of their programs. Firelight also does not support orphanages because we believe that children grow best in families.

Please note that because Firelight raises all of its capital from major foundations, family foundations, and individual philanthropists, we do not always have the ability to accept new grantees or to award grants to every organization that applies.

Thank you again for your interest in Firelight.

Sincerely, The Firelight Team

PS – if you are an organization that does not meet Firelight's criteria for funding eligibility, please consider applying to these other organizations:

- Fund for Global Human Rights (human rights)

- Global Fund for Community Foundations (community philanthropy)

- Global Fund for Women (women and girls)

- Thousand Currents (food sovereignty, alternative economies and climate justice)
